DECAMPMENT is the new 40-minute silent-experimental-horror film from Detroit's undying isolationists, ADULT. The soundtrack, performed live by ADULT. during the screening, is a mutation of instrumental film music and more ADULT.-like irregularities. DECAMPMENT was written, produced and directed by ADULT. in early 2008 and follows a woman's transmigration from her 'normal' life into a new society of deceit. Filmed entirely in Michigan, the film explores ADULT.'s obsession with an often overlooked and distinctive aesthetic that they call 'midwestern horror.' DECAMPMENT, which premiered May 9th, 2008 at the Detroit Institute of Arts, is now ready to tour on a limited scale. This film is not available online or as a DVD, and there are no plans for a 'proper' release at this time. The only way to see DECAMPMENT is in a theater with ADULT. performing the soundtrack live.
This film is also in relation to the latest ADULT. release, entitled THE DECAMPMENT TRILOGY, an extremely limited 7" series to be released on their label ERSATZ AUDIO. Three 7"s – each strictly limited to 100 copies – will tell the story of DECAMPMENT through music, lyrics and photographs. Each hand-numbered 7" will come in a full-color jacket along with a limited 16" x 20" photographic print from Nicola Kuperus, signed and numbered. Piece together the narrative of DECAMPMENT by collecting the entire 7" trilogy, available ONLY through ADULT.'s website: www.adultperiod.com.
Anthology Film Archives is located at 32 Second Ave. at Second Street and can be reached by the Second Avenue F and V train or the #6, Bleecker Street stop.
